Clubhouse Acts confirm festival appearance.

The Lazy Bishops Festival (June 11/12 2011) is a weekend of outdoor music and arts in Farnham. Over 30 acts from all over the country will play across two stages during the weekend including many of Clubhouses’ friends. The first day’s main stage headliners are the wonderful Danny and the Champions of the World whilst other bands featuring throughout Saturday include Two Fingers of Firewater, Dreaming Spires and The Epstein. Sunday sees The Redlands Palomino Company headlining on the main stage with The Cedars, The Hi and Lo and Mat Gibson also on the bill. It’s a fantastic line-up and a great cause. New Artists Welcomed into the Clubhouse

It was getting a little lonely in the Clubhouse over the winter so we thought it was high time we invited a few friends over to join us, make some music and light a fire in the old place as Spring fast approaches.

We're very excited to tell you that two of our very favourite acts have agreed to join our stable. Firstly, the UK's finest country-rock outfit The Redlands Palomino Company come on-board as we collaborate on the release of their hugely anticipated 3rd album. Having heard the finished article we can tell you this is a huge coup for Clubhouse Records. Next up we have Two Fingers of Firewater, purveyors of Alt-Americana and quirky West Coast loveliness. We think this band just keep getting better and better and by the time you hear their soon to be released sophomore effort we're sure you'll agree.

A very exciting few months ahead so stay tuned.

Clubhouse are very pleased to announce that they are joining forces with the Hi & Lo for the digital release the duos' fine debut 'Ten Tracks'. The album will be released on Monday 28th March and will be available from all your favourite download platforms including; iTunes, Amazon, HMV etc. Fans of the humble CD will be able to pick up a copy from this website as well as at the Hi and Lo's gigs, be quick as physical copies are in limited numbers. Well known as London’s cosiest music venue, the cellar at The Betsey has seen gigs from the likes of Keane, The Magic Numbers, Editors, Guillemots and more recently Jack Peñate and Kate Nash.

Newly refurbished and kitted out with a tasty new PA rig and stage lighting, it’s capacity is only up to 60 people including 3 lovely arched alcoves with seating for about 8 people in each – so it’s an intimate affair and that’s for sure...........

Sparse and contemplative, South London's own Mat Gibson ushers in comparisons to Springsteen's 'Nebraska', Jim James of My Morning Jacket and 'Being There' era Wilco.

Built around a lead vocal and acoustic guitar, instrumentation is minimal. Percussion is often just a floor tom and a tambourine whilst flashes of piano, harmonica, glockenspiel and slide guitar accent Mat's doubled or harmonised vocals and flat-picked guitar.

Both haunting and challenging, Mat's subtle and evocative lyrics probe complex contemporary themes with a deft, metaphorical approach. Managing to blur the divisions between past and present, Mat's soul-searching prose is as much an exercise in self-questioning as a hint to larger, far-reaching socio-political questions all rounded off with a touch of black comedy and satire.

Mat's forthcoming mini-album 'Forest Fire' was recorded with Rowland Prytherch (Danny & The Champions of the World, The Epstein) at Truck Studios, Oxfordshire and is due for release in 2011 on Clubhouse Records.

The UK s finest purveyors of beautifully crafted country rock, The Redlands Palomino Company, return after a four year hiatus with the eagerly awaited and utterly brilliant new album, Don t Fade. With the husband-and-wife partnership of Hannah and Alex Elton-Wall once again to the fore on nine new tracks alongside a sublime cover of The Dillards classic One A.M., Don't Fade will delight the band's countrywide fanbase and undoubtedly entice new listeners alike to the sounds of one of the UK s most treasured groups.

After recording their first two albums in London with well respected producers Brian O'Shaunghessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine), Sean Read (Beth Orton, Pete Greenwood) and Chris Clarke (Jim Jones Revue, Madam), for Don't Fade the band decided on a different approach. Opting to buy a stash of recording equipment and decamp to the countryside, the album was produced inhouse by Alex Elton-Wall and recorded over an extended period in rural Wiltshire and the Wye Valley.

Over the years, the band have gained scores of devoted fans across the UK and beyond thanks in part to their often-riotous live shows, and enthusiastic support and radio play from a range of DJs, including BBC Radio 2's Whisperin Bob Harris amongst others. They have made countless high profile festival appearances in the UK and abroad over the last few years and have toured extensively with a range of Americana artists including Richmond Fontaine, The Sadies, Peter Bruntnell, The Rockingbirds, Tift Merritt and The Deadstring Brothers.

The 'Forest Fire' starts on Monday 5th September

Case Hardin join us in the Clubhouse for the release of their latest long player 'Every Dirty Mirror' on Monday 26th September. The follow up to their well received 'Some Tunes For Charlie Spencer', the new album is a fine collection of songs and marks the bands' best work to date. You'll be hearing plenty more about them from us in the coming weeks but in the meantime if you’re nearby join us at The Gladstone, Borough, London on 20th August to see the band preview material from the new album live.

In Pete’s own words....”Champeen’ is a story. A deliberate attempt at getting one of those linear, narrative driven, songs down that writers like Steve Earle and Springsteen do so well (all comparisons end right there).

The guy talking to you in the song has been a boxing champion for almost a decade, dominating during the bare- knuckle years, but who approaches the autumn of his reign just as the fight game itself is moving away from everything he's ever known.

Boxing’s transition, mid way through the 19thC, toward a more legitimate, sustainable and controlled sport – controlled both in terms of safety and securing huge revenues - is firmly at odds with a man who's only marketable skill is to 'tear you apart with these two bare hands'.

The tracks funereal pace adds violence and tension ahead of what could be his final fight; one that could end in humiliation, or affirmation of his claim to be the people's 'Champeen'.... leaving one more bastard begging for mercy, or the devil to take him down.”

On Friday 30 September we Case Hardin play a joint gig with Southern Tenant Folk Union at Arlington Arts Centre near Newbury. Obviously there is much shared history between the two bands and they are really looking forward to providing a great nights entertainment and hanging out with some old friends. This promises to be a terrific night of music, so get along if you can. The band will be joined by Mike Wesson on piano for this show. Mike made some stunning contributions to the recordings on 'Every Dirty Mirror'.

We thought we’d better let you know about Clubhouse’s Christmas plans early so you make your arrangements. We are very happy to be helping our good friends at Empty Room promotions celebrate Tingestock for the second year running!

On Saturday 9th June from 6.30pm, in the legendary surroundings of Tingewick Village Hall nr Buckingham, Empty Rooms have lined up a Clubhouse friendly line-up of the Hi and Lo, The Cedars, The Barker Band and The Dreaming Spires - it's a great bill and we are really looking forward to it!

If you've never been to Tigewick before, imagine yourself in an episode of Heartbeat, it's a great venue which has seen some of our favouite acts grace it's very reasonable stage over the last few years including Richmond Fontaine, Danny and The Champions of The World, Chuck Prophet, Otis Gibb and many many more (not to mention the entire Clubhouse roster....)

Hello Clubhousers,

The weather’s warming up and we’ve finally thrown open the Clubhouse shutters, letting the sun shine in and warming up for a Spring full of musical goodness. We’ve been to some great gigs over the last few weeks including the always fantastic Todd Snider supported by the lovely Danni Nicholls, The Arlenes with Ben Folke Thomas and The Dreaming Spires sharing a stage with Dry The River. But it doesn’t stop there as there’s a plenty of Clubhouse action and new music coming up over the next few weeks…..

The Cedars in Nashville (Babylon)

THE CEDARS will be playing at the 12 Bar Club on Denmark Street on 14^th March for Nashville Babylon hosted by the guys from Loose. Support comes from the Barker Band and Troubadour Rose. Tickets are just £6 from The 12 Bar.

The Dreaming Spires Covered in Glory!

Covered in Glory is a new club night at the Betsey Trottwood, Farringdon Rd, Clerkenwell. On the third Friday of every month, THE DREAMING SPIRES and friends play the music of a different legendary influential artist. Last month’s show featured the songs of Big Star and this month it's the music of the Flying Burrito Bros & Gram Parsons with special guests Alan Tyler & Co-Pilgrim. Friday 16^th March is the date for the diary and it’s only a fiver to get in.

Redlands Palomino Company back in the saddle

After making us wait 4 years for the critically acclaimed album ‘Don’t Fade’ the REDLANDS PALOMINO COMPANY have headed straight back into the studio to start work on the follow up. This will be the band’s 4^th studio album. We’re really excited about hearing some of the new tracks over the coming weeks. More news as we get it.

The Dreaming Spires – Single Launch Party and Album Release Announced!

Clubhouse Records are throwing a Launch Party for The Dreaming Spires next single 'Not Every Song From The Sixties Is A Classic' on Thursday 24th May.

The digital single which is already getting its’ fair share of airplay is released on Monday 28th May.

The night kicks off the promotional activities for The Dreaming Spires debut album 'Brothers in Brooklyn' (released 11th June) on Clubhouse Records and will feature a live set from the band, support from Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou, full album playback as well as DJ’s Olly and Jade of club night ‘Through the Floor’ playing 60’s classics.

The venue is the Alleycat Club on Denmark Street, London. The Alleycat has is the perfect setting sitting just beneath the fabled Regent Sound Studios which was set up at 4 Denmark Street in 1963. With the Rolling Stones recording their first album here, The Kinks recording ‘You Really Got Me’, Black Sabbath laying down ‘Paranoid’ as well as many other seminal moments of music history (http://www.alleycatbar.co.uk).

Case Hardin launch new website

Great reviews keep pouring in for Case Hardin’s latest album, and they were even featured in this week’s Sunday Times as part of a feature on bands with unusual day jobs (!) but they have still found time to launch a brand new website with loads of pics, news and dates check it out – www.casehardin.com

New albums on their way...

It’ll not be long now before you are treated to a plethora of new releases. The Hi and Lo have started recording a follow up to “Ten Tracks” (still available in the Clubhouse online shop!) and you can expect a bigger sound for the multi-instrumentalist pairing. The Redlands Palomino Company are just a few overdubs away from finishing their eagerly awaited fourth album and The Cedars are soon to be delivering the masters to the production plant!! Lots to look forward to in the remainder of 2012....

Tingestock returns!!!

After the success of last year's inaugural event our friends at Empty Room Promotions are holding another "micro-festival" that they promise to be "the best festival in a village hall" - and who are we to argue?

It's a Clubhouse Records friendly bill, with all bands releasing albums this summer, so sure to be on top of their game!! Tingewick Village hall is a special venue and the pub across the road serves a cracking pint of Old Rosy - it's worth a trip for any discerning music fan!! The line up features:
